“My daughter (15) and I both studied at Tico Lingo in July 2026 following her GCSE exams in the uk. She did the teen camp and I joined classes for adults at the school. We both had a really positive experience, and enjoyed every minute of the two weeks that we were in Heredia. Every aspect of our time there was very well organised and we couldn’t have wished for better communication and support from the Tico Lingo team.
In fact, my daughter had such a great time that I barely heard from her during those two weeks! We stayed in separate homestays, as she decided in advance that she would prefer to be with other kids her age. This definitely turned out to be the right decision. I think she took some comfort from the fact that I was in the same town if she needed me, but the group of teens she was with were all getting on so well, and they had so many varied and excited activities to engage them that she didn’t feel the need to reach out.
It was quite the adventure and really gave her a sense of independence. Meanwhile, I found out that language learning is exhausting when you’ve not been in education for 25 years, but I imagine the cognitive benefits are immense! We both felt that our Spanish was improved after the immersive experience. We were joined by the rest of our immediate family after our courses had finished and used the opportunity to travel a little around the beautiful country that is Costa Rica.”
